This time its blood, not water...
They were on the earth before - and after...

Following an unsuccessful suicide attempt, Charles Wilcox III disintegrates into an ever-widening circle of violence, murder, and the discovery of an ancient evil.

The ancient Nephilim are the offspring of wayward angels and beautiful women. Described as giants in the old testament they were feared and respected. Other texts considered them evil - but one thing is clear, even the bible says they survived the great flood. Today they walk the earth, protecting the offspring of a little known figure named Norea. Norea was born directly of Eve and a celestial father, and it is her descendants that will walk deathless in the midst of dying men. Charles Wilcox III unwittingly attracts the attention of this invisible order of Nephilim protectors when his insanity threatens the life of an unsuspecting descendant of Norea.

At age 26, Charles is the surviving member of his family. However, he's inherited only a collection of run down buildings in a small town. Not that he cares much, he's more interested in pursuing his graduate degree in religion and philosophy, at least he was until his grandfather pulled the financial plug a day before he kicked the bucket. Angry, arrogant, and more than a little unbalanced, Charles' life disintegrates rapidly. Under his major professor, Charles had been preparing his dissertation on the Nephilim, a breed of giants that developed when "the sons of God went in to the daughters of humans, who bore children unto them."
Genesis 6:4 NSRV

Verse 4 also states that "the Nephilim were on the earth in those days - and afterward." Since the 6th chapter of Genesis lays out the rationale for the Great Flood and the drowning of mankind, Noah's family excepted, Charles intended to put forth the hypothesis in his research that, if the Nephilim survived the flood - on the earth before and afterward - then they were immortal and walked the earth in some form today.

From the Nag Hammadi Library, he learned that Norea, a daughter of Eve, was granted permission to travel on the ark with Noah. That would be the second ark, since Norea burned the first one when Noah refused her. For his ignorance, he had to build a second one. Norea was told by an angel:
"You, together with your offspring, are from the primeval father; from above, out of the imperishable light, their souls are come. Thus the authorities cannot approach them, because of the spirit of truth present within them; and all who have become acquainted with this way exist deathless in the midst of dying mankind." Hypostasis of the Archons Book of Enoch

Charles guessed right: The Nephilim really do exist. And, through his increasingly irrational behavior, Charles became a real threat to a direct descendant of Norea. But Charles also guessed wrong: The most important men in his life; his father, his grandfather, and his mentor Dr. Bobby Lee Nelson, are not who he imagines them to be. His journey into a world of spirit and power would be much more than he could manage, even endure. The result could only be a complete physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual disintegration.
